In autumn 2021, as part of the process of finding a provider for out of hours clinical home visits, we held two patient meetings to find out your experiences of accessing clinical home visiting appointments and what you would like to see implemented by the new provider.
Attendees told us:
- They wanted greater communication from primary care and how they can access appointments
- Greater clarity on what medical problems a clinician could attend a home visit for
- More promotion of NHS 111 and how they can help book appointments
- Clinicians to be able to access patient medical records easily and communicate with the patient’s GP surgery.
The procurement has been postponed to 2022, with the new provider expected to mobilise a new service from 1 April 2023. The insights gathered will be considered at that time.
