Volunteers who supported Thanet’s Covid-19 vaccine rollout have been thanked by MP Craig Mackinlay at a ceremony at the Saga Centre in Ramsgate.

Craig joined Dr Ash Peshen to present volunteers with certificates signed by the Minister for Vaccines and Public Health Maggie Throup.

Craig Mackinlay with Rua O'Hare and Pratigya PeshenCraig (pictured with volunteers Rua O'Hare and Pratigya Peshen) said: “Our local vaccine volunteers were key to saving lives and getting us back to normality.

“Thanks to Dr Peshen and his team of medics and volunteers, the Saga Centre became one of the most successful vaccination centres in the country and was the focal point for Covid jabs in east Kent, with close to 200,000 vaccinations carried out so far and a remarkable 73 per cent coverage to date of people aged 50 plus and vulnerable groups.”

He urged anyone who is eligible to book their booster jab online.
