If you are heading to Margate's Main Sands during the school holidays and need urgent medical help at any point, you can now pop along to a special treatment centre located on the promenade.

When the weather is good, thousands of local people and holidaymakers flock to Margate every day and staff at the beach pop-up treatment centre will be on hand to help with minor accidents, mishaps and illnesses that can happen at any time.

The pop-up, organised by NHS Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), is there to support the local NHS make sure patients can be seen in the right place at the right time and as quickly as possible.

Dr Ash Peshen, Urgent and Emergency Care Clincal Lead for Kent and Medway CCG and East Kent ICP, said: “Margate Main Sands can become really busy during the summer and this initiative is about making sure we are able to provide the right care to people, faster.

“So, if you are on the beach at Margate this summer and have a minor accident or illness, you can go straight along to our pop-up treatment centre without the need to think about travelling anywhere else to get medical help.’’

The unit is supporting the NHS in Kent and Medway to make sure people are accessing the right help for their need. Please remember, to help us help you this summer by making the right choice.

You can also visit a pharmacy, which can give advice about lots of everyday minor illnesses and injuries. It’s a good idea to have a well-stocked medicine cabinet at home too.

If you need medical help right now, think 111; it’s open 24-hours-a-day or you can visit www.111.nhs.uk. Trained 111 advisors can direct you to the right medical care for you.
